Movie #5: 50 First Dates

First of all, sorry for how big the picture for the last movie is... not sure how to fix.

Poor Andrew. This is possibly my favorite movie of all time and he had to sit and listen to me "aww" over this movie. I cannot even express how much I love this movie. I am such a fan of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and I love them acting together. I love to sing along to "Forgetful Lucy" and obnoxiously sing "Wouldn't it be Nice?" right along with Drew. The penguin cracks me up. Rob Schneider is hilarious. We love to joke around about "What's up with your nipple?" as much as possible. This movie is a guarantee to make me feel better anytime I'm in a bad mood. For me, A+. I love it. Next up: 8 Mile

Movie #4: 40-Year-Old Virgin

I love this movie. I always have. It is absolutely hysterical. I love Paul Rudd. For me, he is so under-credited (not sure if that is even a word) as an actor. I've loved him since he played Josh in Clueless. He continually portrays characters that have odd-ball sense of humors. Loved him in this. This movie seems (to me) to be the leap pad for many actors, like Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill and the one guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and How I Met Your Mother (i feel like an ass that i cannot remember his name). I feel like a lot of my humor has come from this movie. I cannot tell you how many drunk nights I have wanted some "fuckin' french toast). Everything about this movie makes me laugh. I give this movie an A. One of the favs! Up next: 50 First Dates!

Movie #3: 300

Ugh and I thought that 2 Fast 2 Furious was bad. I don't know what it is but I cannot stand violent, historic movies. Yuck. Just not for me at all. This movie took us 4 tries to finish. Between me falling asleep or us both deciding we didn't want to watch it, this was a drag for both of us.

I thoroughly enjoyed how yummy Girard Butler was with his 6-pack abs and loin cloth. Andrew really liked that there was action, people killing each other, blood splatter and the history behind the film. Thank God that the next 7 or 8 movies are all ones that I enjoy. :) As for 300, I rate it a D. Andrew would give it a B-. Up next: 40-Year-old Virgin

Movie #2: 27 Dresses

For me, this movie was a great break from the stressful reality that is my life right now. James Marsden looks super yummy in this movie and Andrew enjoyed looking at Katherine Heigle. This movie took 6 days to watch. We started it last weekend and kept putting off finishing it. This movie is completely predictable and has been done 1000 times. I am pretty sure there is a line in this movie taken directly from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Something along the lines of "you used me to get ahead in your career". I laugh through parts. I like all the crazy bridesmaid dresses she is forced to wear. I like when they get drunk and sing Benny and the Jets with the wrong lyrics. I like looking at James Marsden. That's about all I liked. For me, I give this movie: C+. Next up: 300.

Movie #1: 2 Fast 2 Furious

Ugh, what a way to start out. I completely agreed to this process with Andrew and I knew there were going to be movies I couldn't stand. I think that the only reason that I tolerated it was because I got to look at Paul Walker for an hour and forty minutes. Yum. I didn't really get the plot at first because I was making dinner for Andrew. Once I was resting comfotably in the recliner, I picked up pretty quickly. There were a couple high points for me. I liked when all of the decoy cars came driving out of the garage at the end. I also liked when Tyrese hit the button and the ejector seat flew out of his car. Other than these two blips, I couldn't tell you much about the movie. It was dull. Yes, there was a lot of fast cars and girls with booty shorts on and for the male gender, that is perfect. But for me, it was just dull. It was predictable. The acting was boring. The only thing that made it remotely tolerable was Paul Walker's blonde hair and muscles. For me, I give this movie a C-.

Our Purpose

So the never ending dilemma hit us again tonight. 1000+ channels and nothing to watch on tv. How is it humanly possible that out of all of these options, there is absolutely NOTHING that Andrew and I can agree on? My suggestion (as it often is when we cannot agree) was to pop in a movie.

"Let's just pop in a movie." Six simple words that spark controversy, conflict, and a need forsome sort of bargaining everytime they are spoken. "If you let me watch ______(fill in obnoxious gender preferred movie title here), I promise to clean the kitchen every night for a week." "Well, if you let me watch ________(an equally obnoxious gender preferred movie title here), then I'll do whatever you want. Please, please, please."

That being said, it is easier said than done to pick out a movie in our household. So Andrew, my husband, and I made an agreement. We agreed to not fight over picking movies, rather to just simply go in order. We are going to spend our time together when we cannot find anything to watch to watch all of the movies we have collected over the past 7+ years of being together. There is no "veto" in this agreement. We are watching all of them. All guy movies, all chick flicks, all of the war films and all of the tear jerkers. This will not be some quickly accomplished fate. Movies will not be watched everyday. We have also agreed that TV series box sets that we own, for now, will be passed over. That means there will be no Newlyweds, One Tree Hill or Sex and the City; however, the SATC movie is fair game. We will also not watch any of the concerts that we have on DVD. No OAR, no DMB, and no PHISH. All of this will be from my perspective, with random thoughts from Andrew thrown in here and there. I'm not counting on many people reading this. In fact, I was inspired by watching Julie & Julia tonight. The idea of blogging about something as it happens and giving your thoughts seems freeing to me. I look forward to being able to express my reviews of these movies. Most people will probably disagree with how I see things. I just look forward to voicing myself.
